Trigger events of the Civil War-
The largest single trigger event to the Civil War was the election of Abraham Lincoln as president. The south was already beginning to feel uneasy, with the increasing growth of anti-slavery in the north, and then with the election of Lincoln, who the South believed was pretty much an abolitionist. The southerners felt like they no longer had a say in government over the issue of slavery, and so some states began to act. The number of seceded states grew, and then the Confederacy was formed, with Jefferson Davis as the president. Soon afterward, the Civil War began.
